Old school wisdom. A new way to deliver it.
American Faith Academy combines something very old with something very new.
The old is an education rooted in truth, goodness, beauty, great books, great ideas, meaningful conversation, and the classical pursuit of wisdom.
The new is the ability to provide each student with instruction that responds to the individual child — their understanding, their gaps, their strengths, and their readiness to move forward.
Technology serves the education. It does not define it. And the role it plays changes as the child grows.
In AFA Primary
The parent is the primary teacher. AFA provides the curriculum, books and materials, teaching resources, and clear lesson plans. Short platform lessons, generally 10–20 minutes, are available to reinforce what the parent is teaching. The platform supports the parent; it does not replace the parent.
Beginning in Grade 3
The platform can provide the primary academic instruction. Students are guided through lessons conversationally. They are asked questions, challenged to explain their reasoning, given additional instruction when they struggle, and moved forward as they demonstrate understanding.
Parents no longer have to teach every academic lesson themselves. Instead, they can focus on what no platform can replace: discipleship, encouragement, accountability, conversation, and loving oversight.
And families who want a more traditional homeschool experience can use AFA’s lesson plans and resources to step into the teacher’s seat themselves. AFA provides the structure. Your family determines how hands-on you want to be.
The difference is the conversation.
Other programs can adapt the practice. SOAR adapts the teaching.
Many online learning programs can recognize whether a student answered a question correctly or incorrectly and adjust what comes next. But not every wrong answer means the same thing.
A student may have made a careless mistake. They may understand the concept but have missed a step. They may have a genuine misunderstanding. Or that one wrong answer may expose a foundational gap from years earlier. Those students shouldn’t all receive the same response.
And the opposite is equally important: a right answer doesn’t always mean a student understands.
That’s why AFA uses conversational, Socratic instruction. Students are asked to explain, reason, write, reconsider, and demonstrate understanding. The goal isn’t simply to arrive at the correct answer.
The goal is to understand why.

Children build the basic shapes of language and number while discovering a world worth wondering about.
Grammar · 3–6
This is where the mind gets built.
Knowledge, memory, language, stories, facts, patterns, and the joy of knowing things well.
Logic · 7–8
When they start to question everything, we teach them how to question well.
Students learn argument, reasoning, discernment, and how to distinguish truth from error.
Rhetoric · 9–12
Now they speak. And what they say will matter.
Students learn to write, speak, persuade, defend ideas, and use what they know with wisdom.
The curriculum.
Math and Language Arts progress according to mastery — your child moves forward when mastery is real, not when the calendar says so. Other AFA Academy subjects follow a shared academic sequence, allowing students to build common knowledge and participate meaningfully in the life of the school.

*Omnibus is AFA’s integrating course. In the Grammar years it weaves together history, literature, composition, science, geography, and fine arts. In the Logic and Rhetoric years it deepens into history, literature, composition, theology, philosophy, and fine arts — a single coherent conversation that runs from the ancient world to the modern one.

We don’t want students merely consuming information. We want them encountering ideas worth thinking about. We do not hand children textbooks and ask them to summarize. We hand them real books — good books, great books, primary sources — and ask them to think.
The read-aloud years are filled with stories that form the imagination: Charlotte's Web, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Little House in the Big Woods, The Wind in the Willows. The grammar years move into history-rich fiction and myth: D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths, The Bronze Bow, The Hobbit, Tales from Shakespeare. The logic years take on weight: The Odyssey, Augustine's Confessions, Beowulf, A Tale of Two Cities, Animal Farm. The rhetoric years read the canon: The Iliad, The Republic, Paradise Lost, Moby-Dick, Brave New World — and much more.
Across their years at AFA, students learn not simply to summarize what someone else said, but to wrestle with ideas and eventually say something true themselves. By the time an AFA student graduates, they have read more of the world’s great literature than most college graduates.

Starting in 9th grade, students choose between two paths — or combine them. Both are honored. Both are rigorous.

College Track
Rigorous formation that turns out students universities want. Honors-level work across the humanities and sciences. Dual enrollment available. AP-equivalent coursework. A senior thesis: a 30–50 page original work, defended orally. College counseling starting in 10th grade.

Trade Programs
For the kid God made to build things. Real-world certifications in skilled trades alongside the same classical formation. Apprenticeship pathways. Hands-on, head-on, heart-on.
