What is the deadline for applications?
We keep rolling admissions open year-round, but we encourage families to enroll by August 1st so your student is settled before the community's rhythm begins. School starts in mid-August, which allows for smooth transitions.
Are there entrance exams?
We use placement assessments rather than entrance exams. These are not pass/fail evaluations — they simply help us place your student in the right courses and at a level where they will thrive.
Do you accept students with learning differences?
Absolutely. American Faith Academy is designed to meet students where they are, and our personalized, mastery-paced platform is well suited to a wide range of learning needs. We believe every child deserves access to a Christ-centered education.
What's the difference between AFA Academy and SOAR?
AFA Academy is our complete classical Christian education for Grades 3–12. SOAR provides supplemental Math and/or Language Arts instruction for Grades 3–12 without enrolling in the full AFA program.
Does my child have to leave their current school to use SOAR?
No. SOAR is designed to work alongside your child’s current school or homeschool program.
What does mastery-paced mean?
Students move forward when they demonstrate understanding—not simply because it’s time for the class to move on. They can spend more time where they need help and move faster when they’re ready.
Is SOAR tutoring?
Think of SOAR as personalized tutoring that’s available whenever your child is ready to learn. It provides instruction, asks questions, responds to your child’s thinking, and adjusts the teaching based on what they need.
How is SOAR different from an online practice program?
Practice programs typically adapt which questions come next. SOAR adapts the teaching. Through Socratic conversation, it can explore why a student is struggling and respond with appropriate instruction.
What is the parent's role?
In AFA Primary, the parent is the primary teacher. In AFA Academy, the platform can provide the primary academic instruction while parents disciple, encourage, and oversee. With SOAR, the platform provides the instruction while parents provide encouragement, accountability, and support.
Can I teach the lessons myself?
Yes. AFA Academy families can use our lesson plans and resources to take a more active teaching role. AFA Primary is specifically designed to be parent-led.
Can my child start SOAR in the middle of the school year?
Yes! SOAR can be started anytime, making it ideal when a student needs help or greater challenge during the school year.
Can I purchase only Math or only Language Arts?
Yes. SOAR Math and SOAR Language Arts are each $69/month, or families can choose both through SOAR Essentials for $99/month.
What is your statement of faith?
We are grounded in the historic Christian conviction captured in Augustine's principle: “In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, and in all things love.” You can read our full convictions on our Statement of Faith page.
What technology is required for the online platform?
Students can access the platform on a desktop, laptop, Chromebook, tablet, or smartphone using a current browser. We recommend a reliable internet connection of at least 5 Mbps, and hardware capable of audio and video (a minimum of a Core i3 processor and 4GB of RAM). Families with questions about specific devices or network settings are welcome to reach out.
Are you accredited?
American Faith Academy is actively pursuing accreditation through Accreditation International and the Middle States Association, and holds NCAA approval.
